THE BEST BITS.
This is a bit of self indulgence on behalf of the author . In 25 years of horticulture some really good times have been had , here are the best of those moments.

Meeting Prince Phillip was a big day , for a combination of reasons , the biggest one being an acknowledgement of my work in horticulture with the Duke of Edinburgh medal. After the award ceremony we had a private dinner at the Ritz .

Receiving my D.H.E. at Edinburgh Botanics , a brillant place nd a brilliant garden.
Have had a ball working for Blue Peter which is coming up to 6 years now , its positive television and I've enjoyed working with both the programmes presenters and staff .
I worked wih the gorgeous Konnie Huq mostly , it used to make me realise that the game of presenting can be made to look easy by some people and that my talent mainly lay in gardening
Co- workers in Cameroon , West Africa , an incredible place with incredible people.

Your flat mates tend to be a little unusual when living in Africa
Working in the Blue Pete garden , which is more oWf a studio than a garden in many ways , the job can be damage linitation but in the concrete jungle of TV centre this space is an oasis.

Working i the conservation area at kew was something a little bit special , especially in May.
Talking to a camera , probably too fast , it can be hard going at times but when its on song its a real buzz
Not realy one for celebrity culture but Mr Fry was a breath of fresh air
Couldn't resist having my photo take with a comrade

On to Westminster Abbey , a truley surreal place to work and an unforgettable place also , here photographed with Canon Wright , who you may know from state opening of parliment

The setting at Westminster was fantastic and the garden reported to be 900 years old
The people that present gardening on television are good company and friendly , just as gardeners tend to be , but I can.t help feeling this is an achievement in the competitive world of television

The Japanese made keen students and my bosses made a lot of money!

The first tree I ever planted , two weks after beoming a gardener , that was 25 years ago , this picture was taken maybe 10 years ago , as you can imagine its big now. This Cornish Elm is my legacy.
